About Synergy Festival

  • Synergy

The opportunity to carry forward the noble work of a parent is a matter of great good fortune given to a chosen few.

Hema Malini, the doting daughter of the Chakravartis, who was always in awe of her parents, drew immense strength and inspiration from her mother, Jaya Chakravarti, who stood by her like a pillar throughout her career in films, dance and in Politics.

The young Jaya ji was a very cultured Tamil Iyengar housewife, who took full charge of her daughter, Hema Malini, and groomed her for a grand career in dance and films. Along with shouldering this massive responsibility of her daughter’s career, she selflessly supported and introduced several young aspirants to the field of films and arts. It is this journey, this dream of Jaya ji, which Hema Malini decided to carry forward.

JAYA SMRITI, an initiative which serves as a platform for aspiring young artistes in the field of Dance and Music from all across India, is an event staged every year as a tribute by Hema Malini in memory of her mother, Mrs. Jaya Chakravarti since the year 2006.

In the past few years this event has gained immense popularity among the younger generation and is now known as one of the most prestigious annual events in the city of Mumbai.

With a vision of broadening the horizons and to promote friendship between India and other countries based on art and culture, Hema Malini envisaged SYNERGY – An International Cultural Festival, a global platform for different cultures to come together with the spirit of solidarity.

Starting 2017, SYNERGY will continue to collaborate and create events that will become milestones towards friendship & mutual understanding and respect between the participating countries.

Georgian National Ballet “Sukhishvili” was officially founded in 1945 by Iliko Sukhishvili and Nino Ramishvili. Since then, three generations of Sukhishvili family have dedicated their lives to the Georgian National Ballet.

Georgian National Ballet “Sukhishvili” has been represented by world’s many well-known impresarios and producers; it has appeared at the Albert Hall, The Coliseum, The Metropolitan Opera and many other famous venues. It was the first and the only folk troupe ever admitted to the most famous and demanding stage at Teatro Alla Scala in Milan, Italy.

Having witnessed the Georgian National Ballet – Sukhishvili personally during her visit to Tbilisi, Georgia, Hema Malini was inspired by the depth and the youthful spirit of the young artistes.

Hema views this endeavor as one trail-blazer event and an opportunity for a great cultural exchange between India and Georgia, as both these countries share an ancient and rich culture and mutual love and admiration among its people.

Along with the Georgian artistes, 3 traditional dance styles of India i.e. Pung Cholom (Folk dance of Manipur) and the popular Bharatnatyam and Kathak will participate in this cultural amalgamation.

This year SYNERGY festival of Indo-Georgian Dance Fusion will travel to 4 major cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai and will be graced by dignitaries, celebrities and various art connoisseurs.
